Toy-stepping across the Universe

Our friend and director Allard from Pink Rabbit tipped us with this French dude who is producing and performing with Game Boys to bring the 8 Bit sound live and direct to the audience. Nope, this is not Surkin's supergenius brother, it's JDDJ3J a.k.a. "Je deviens dj en trois jours".

Red Cross ambassador Hans Brouwer

Last week's Monday, The Netherlands Red Cross celebrated its 140th birthday with a benefit ball in the Amsterdam Beurs of Berlage. During this happening the Red Cross collected 350.000 euro, which will be used for social care projects around the globe.

Besides this, Red Cross also presented their newest ambassadors to the audience. We can proudly tell you that our MassiveMusic founder/CEO Hans Brouwer officially became one of the ambassadors for The Netherlands Red Cross. After opening Massive New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Kaiser Sound Studios and Timboektoe, it's time for an diplomatic mission.

The universal language of music

Here are two excerpts from the brilliant documentary "The story of the weeping camel" When a Mongolian nomadic family's newest camel colt is rejected by its mother, a musician is needed for a ritual to change her mind.



The two kids in the family travel to the nearest city to find a musician that will reunite the mother and the calf.



This is the most powerful documented example we know of how mysterious and immensely powerful the universal language of music is. Please go rent this movie. It will change your life. Well at least for a week or so.

Today, our friend WOES forwarded, or plugged us this teaser video from Gonzales. Mad creative guy, responsible for the unorthodox song 'Working together' that became a semi-hit through fifa 09.

This is a great example of how to tease the upcoming album and boost downloads. It's about self promotion, and getting fans to be your music plugger, by forwarding the teaser and start the conversation with peers. Just like we do now. It's just great.

This morning we did some foley recording for a new commercial we are currently working on. This film needed 'real skis on asphalt' sounds. So we did.

Coca Cola "Shuang City"

We are happy to inform you that last week was the first TV airdate of the Coca Cola 'Shuang City' commercial;

The impressive commercial will run all month, right up until the moment the Olympic Flame will enter the Beijing Olympic Stadium.

We are very proud of having produced the Music and Sounddesign for this film, as it marks a unique moment in (Chinese) history.

We would like to thank the Agency Red Lounge as well as the collaborating Production Houses P.I.G. China, PSYOP and Stink for their support and teamwork.

It has been a pleasure and a privilege, and we are very proud of the result.

LaLa Land Cannes 2008

Another sumptuous and fun-filled Cannes edition is behind us. It was a great chance for us all to hang out together with the crew from Amsterdam, LA, NYC and Kaiser Sound Studios all present. As always our party was the highlight of our week. This years theme 'Lala Land' turned out to be a good pick and it was bizarre seeing complete strangers trot around town with the I love LaLa Land t-shirts in the days after the event. God knows how they got them. Here are some pictures taken at our Massivewednesday party in LaLa Land. This is a little clip shot by one of our guests:

Lo taking one of the Olsen Twins home in Cannes

"All the girls love Lø" Lo was spotted driving home one of the Olsen Twins in Cannes at 6.30 in the morning. In a perfect world this is what you see when commuting to work every morning. Well, this and a naked Penelope Cruz running beside you in slow-mo handing you a fresh croissant with gouda cheese.

Frau Guajardo 8th Grade Class "La Pelota"

Our little EA Fifa Street III viral sage continues to the point that we thought it would be illegal not to share this with you. Turns out you don't have to do a proper song release to get an international fanbase into action. Thanks to the very cool rooftop soccer viral from Jeroen Mol and W+K Amsterdam (see earlier post), "La Pelota" the song we recorded with Alejandro Londono, has become the most searched for thing on the web after Bin Laden's hide out on Google Earth. Last week, we are not shitting on you, we got the song request from the US army out of Texas. And here is a true display of hobby gangsterism taken from Frau Guajardo 8th Grade annual Spanish class performance. We like!! So what's next? Opening of the Olympics? Or this years Dutch national elderly aqua-jogging estafette?

MassiveWednesday 2008: The Rainbows End @ LaLaLand

It's MassiveWednesday time! And yet another edition of the annual MassiveMusic & GettyImages party at the Canneslions International Advertising Festival.

This year Cannes will be LaLaLand - a massive and colourful themepark at the Riviera. The main attraction in LaLaLand will be The Rainbows End. Follow the rainbow, and see your creative director and producer doing their disco-dancing moves near the pot of gold.

Behind the wheels of plastic we have The Disco Accidents (Massive's own Steve Johnsen & DJ Sietz) and Bang Gang Deejays (Ajax & Gus da Hoodrat), bringing you the finest LaLaTunes. Watch out for the invite e-mail you will receive from Joep. You know the drill.
